Several cities were considered in this evaluation and were judged on a scale of 1-10 based on the following criteria:

- History of Innovation
- Successful Financial Exit
- Job Creation
- Patents Awarded
Based on the above criteria, the following cities have been recognized by Sappin Global Strategies as the most innovative cities in 2014. The top 3 are as follows:

- 2 – New York
- 3 – Bangalore
